Good Dog Houston

10 Apr

Read all about it! Good Dog is quickly becoming one of Houston’s most popular spots. Good Dog has set the bar high for gourmet hot dogs – making even the health conscious want to splurge a little. Just imagine: a hearty hot dog between a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth brioche bun, with all the fresh homemade condiments you only wished they would offer at concession stands. It is that good, folks.

When the weather is nice, my first thought is to go to Good Dog. This restaurant has one of the best patios in town overlooking the always-lively Studewood Street in the Heights.  I suggest you grab a craft beer from the bar or the fizzy mint lemonade and enjoy yourself at one of the outside tables while you wait on your food.

The best part about Good Dog is the top notch hot dogs – no surprise there! The standard Good Dog is big and juicy. You can pick from a plethora of hand-made condiments to make this classic hot dog ideal for your taste buds. Some of Good Dog’s famous condiments include their Sriracha Ketchup, Whole Grain Mustard, Roasted Garlic Aioli and Jalapeno Relish.

The Chi-Town Dog is Good Dog’s take on a traditional Chicago-style hot dog. The dog includes tomato slices, pickles, Sweet Blakeslee Relish, Short Bus Mustard and celery salt on a poppy-seed bun. It is deeee-licious! The New Yorker is another favorite of mine, smothered in beer-braised sauerkraut and homemade mustard.

The Chillin’ Dog is anything but chill. This bold hot dog is served with a healthy serving of beef and chorizo chili, jalapenos and mustard. Grab a napkin and enjoy carefully.

For the (somewhat) health conscious, try the Panzanella salad with bits of brioche bun and veggies over a kale salad.  And for all the others, like myself, finish your Good Dog experience with one of the old-fashioned milkshakes. We had the Rocky Road milkshake and, everyone’s favorite, the Thin Mint milkshake. Thank you Girl Scouts of America.

I hope you will head over to Good Dog soon to try it for yourself. Good Dog is open every day except Monday for lunch and dinner. See you there!
